CRAFT YOUR CHICK FOLDABLE CARD

This is what you would need to do:-

It’s simple and quite straightforward.

  • Print out on an A4 card,
  • Practice how to fold the card. (see video below)
  • Grab any recycling you have to hand.

YOUR OWN RESOURCES

Find what you have. I use torn tissue paper, some strips and glue on the egg.

CREATE A TEXTURED EFFECT

For example, odd yellow tissue paper, ripped and stuck on the chick, cut out scraps of green paper, card or fabric into leaves or flowers and glue them around the bottom or back of the chick, creating a garden.

You can draw a background showing fluffy clouds ☁ and sun, ☀, bringing the whole feel of Spring with that Easter 🐣 feel.

So enjoy!

Before we move on, here are a couple of videos that demonstrate how else you can use this folding technique and expand on two different ideas.

Here’s a short video on a very similar concept,  only in our activity, we will be revealing what’s inside the cracked egg once the egg has been pulled apart!
This design is very versatile and can work with many cute or wild ideas. For example, you can draw up any kind of surprise. Like. treats, flowers, fruits, and fireworks popping out. You make it as explosive as you want! Check out this Summer Kitten.

Cool, isn’t it? So I’m going to demo how I would do this using what I have to hand to show how you can make one of the 2 fun chick foldable cards for kids!

HERE’S A CHICK WITH A DIFFERENT KIND OF SURPRISE!

SOME TIPS!

     HOW TO DRAW YOUR CHICK
  • When the card is folded down, draw the shape of a chick, almost like an egg shape with a pencil, rub out if it goes wrong and start again.
  • Copy similar features as shown or do your own version, then add 2 chick feet at the bottom of the chick.
     WHERE TO DRAW THE MOUTH
  • Make sure the opening of the card is across the chick’s mouth, so when you open the folded card, it’s like you are opening its mouth.
     EXTEND THE MOUTH
  • Use your ruler to extend each side of the chick’s mouth. Curve the lines to form the top and bottom and the inside of the chick’s mouth.
     CHICKS WINGS.
  • Add the chick’s wings when the drawing of the whole chick is completed.
     ADDING THE GRAFFITI
  • Now it’s time to add your graffiti fun words and little drawings that fill up the opening.
DRAW WITH PENCIL THEN BLACK PEN
  • Draw with your pencil parts popping out of the chick’s mouth, making it fun, explosive, and with a wow factor, then go over everything with a black felt-tip pen, and rub out pencil lines.
     LASTLY COLOUR IN
  • Once you are happy with your black and white outline of the chick and inside its mouth, you can colour your chick how you like.

I hope you enjoyed these fun chick foldable card activities. You can print out the chick printable and your kids can apply different art pens or crayons to colour it in, or add any fun resources of their choice!

NO PRINTER?

Alternatively, if there is no printer, then the other chick activity, with an extended mouth, is also a fun way for your kids to make the inside of the chick’s mouth fun, quirky, or magical!.

TIME TO REFLECT!

WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT THE EGG-SHELL?

What do we know about eggshells? And why are they in the oval shape? And what is the eggshell composed of? And how does it protect the embryo within it?

SO LET’S RECAP!

Here’s a quick recap on this subject:-

Spring – Rebirth – Chicks – bunnies – Blossoms – Flowers – Change of Season- Easter – holidays.

WHAT ELSE DO WE KNOW ABOUT EASTER?

RELIGIOUS ELEMENT

Easter is a special time of year when many Christians celebrate the story of Easter.

It remembers when Jesus came back to life, which is called the resurrection, and it represents new life and hope.

WHAT IS EASTER LINKED TO?

That’s why Easter is also linked to spring, a season when flowers bloom, and baby animals like chicks and bunnies are born.

WHAT DO EGGS SYMBOLISE?

Eggs are an important symbol too, because their shape represents new life growing inside. Today, Easter eggs are often made from chocolate and shared as treats, making the celebration fun and exciting for children as well as meaningful.

COMING BACK TO THE EASTER CARDS ACTVITIES!

I hope your child enjoyed these 2 creative activities, like these foldable chick cards. It can be lovely to extend their play even further, by talking about chicks, eggs and what they symbolise over the Easter occasion.

I simply demonstrate how you can use a chick as the main character, whereas there are other creatures you can substitute it for, like a bunny, a dinosaur,  or any other fun, quirky animal that your child might prefer hatching out of an egg!

If you want to see real baby chick hatching from their eggs, check the link at the end of this post, ‘Easter Chick Craft for Kids’ that shows chick eggs hatching and baby chicks revealed!

“Discover a lovely selection of toys from Scandiborn, beautifully made to encourage play, learning, and imagination.”

Simple crafts often spark imaginative storytelling, and children can continue the fun by creating their own little scenes and characters.

You could pair these ideas with small world toys like farm animals, wooden puzzles, or interactive sound toys to bring their creations to life.

I especially love the calm, nature-inspired style of Scandiborn, where you’ll find beautifully designed toys in soft, soothing colours that encourage open-ended, creative play.

It’s a gentle way to move from crafting into imaginative play, helping children explore their ideas in a relaxed and engaging way.

**“I particularly like their range of forest-themed puzzles and toys. Check them out here.

For example, this forest friends puzzle has a lovely woodland feel, with animal pieces that play music when your child lifts them from their place. This allows children to hear the sound each forest animal makes.”**
