QUICK AND EASY SPIDER CRAFT! 🕷
We like easy, right? Especially if it’s getting your kids to interact, focus and keep them busy, even if it’s for 5 minutes!
So something like this foil spider craft takes no time whatsoever to set up, just remember to have some handy foil, even if it’s saved up foil and check out what my grandson did with me, talking him through it, later on! 😀
HERE’S HOW WE MADE FOIL SPIDERS! 🕷
But, if you still need to see this craft in action, I found a quick video, by Easy Paper Crafts, that demos just how it’s done!

  SOME TIPS! 🕷
  ADULT HELP
- Adults will need to help cut up the foil strips or use child-friendly scissors.
  MAKING THE LEGS
- When making the legs, to get the foil to be very tight, simply rub in-between palms of your hands, like your hands are cold and you are rubbing them together. This motion with compress the foil and smooths it out a bit.
- Before you roll the 4 legs in the foil, place them evenly and equally on both ends, as when you roll up the foil, the legs should be the same size on both sides.
  FORM THE BODY
- To make the body, pull, compress and shape the body forming a head which is smaller than the body.
  KEEP FOIL TIGHT
- Unless the foil is squashed tightly, the legs can come away.
  SHAPE THE LEGS
- Once you have the spider shape, you can bend each leg and arch it to raise the body off the floor.
LEAVE AS FOIL OR PAINT SPIDERS
- Now you are ready to paint your foil spiders. Use any paints you have, layer the paint on thickly, which will show more on the foil. Alternatively, leave the spiders as they are silver foils.
🕷SPIDERS🕷 ARE NOT JUST FOR HALLOWEEN!🕷
I didn’t set out to make spiders for Halloween; I had already had pumpkins lined up for that, but on this occasion, to make it more fun for my grandson, I thought to have an additional craft for him to do and link it up with his fabulous painted pumpkins.
KEEPING YOUR KIDS BUSY!
It’s also a super holiday activity to keep your kids entertained for a few more minutes, and the best part is you can expand on this by painting or even decorating your spiders as well!
Furthermore, it wasn’t until I spotted a Halloween craft on the telly that I got drawn into foil spider making, and it’s a bit like knitting; once you start and get a system going, you keep going, and then you can turn out quite a few shiny foil spiders to do as you want with. 🕷🕷🕷
Bending and forming the shape when done, each spider is unique from each other, keeping them just as foil spiders, or painted, making them look really cool and spooky!
Once the spiders are completed, they are great to be left just as foil spiders, or paint them in different colours to give them character!
SPOT MORE SPIDERS 🕷 IN AUTUMN!
Spiders aren’t actually Halloween creatures. They’re useful little predators that help control insects, and many spiders become more noticeable in autumn when some species are more active or easier to spot.
WHAT’S THE LINK WITH SPIDERS 🕷 AND🕷 HALLOWEEN?
Spiders have become strongly associated with Halloween because they’re linked to spooky houses, haunted places, witches and old folklore. There are a few reasons why!
COBWEBS AND HAUNTED HOUSES
Old, dusty buildings often have cobwebs, giving the impression that somewhere is abandoned, creepy or haunted.
WITCHES AND MAGIC
Spiders have long appeared in stories, folklore and illustrations of witches, alongside cauldrons, bats and black cats.
THEIR SPOOKY APPEARANCE
Eight long legs, hairy bodies and fangs make spiders a natural choice for Halloween decorations!
LET’S RECAP!
Halloween wouldn’t be quite the same without a few creepy crawlies! Spiders, with their eight hairy legs and spooky cobwebs, have become a familiar sight in Halloween decorations.Â
Even so, I still think this is a fabulous activity, whether it’s for Halloween or simply a fun, quick and easy craft that will dominate part of the day, and I’m sure kids love anything creepy or eerie, even if it’s in the wonderful world of SPIDERS! 🕷

PUMPKIN CRAZE!
Carving pumpkins, isn’t that easy for a child of 5 years, (like my grandson) either, as it would need adult help with the carving part, but scooping out the mashy stringy stuff from inside it is great fun for them.
We saved the pumpkin seeds to clean, roast with some salt for later.
PAINT YOUR PUMPKIN
Although I find what’s quite popular now is to paint your pumpkins after you have carved out their face, kids go wild with that part too!Â
We did ours the other way around, carved, then painted.
As for Halloween, adding your colourful painted spiders near your painted pumpkins look quite spooky too, it adds that extra element, and the best part is they are crafted by your kids!Â
NO TRICK OR TREATERS! 👻 🤡 🧙
This is the only year that I ever remember, where we have never had Trick or Treaters! Where are they all?
The possible answer could be that they all do their own Halloween parties, or go to events!
Well, whichever they chose, I hope they had a great spooky celebrations! In any case, there are more treats for us to go round, and we enjoyed the activities making our foil spiders, and painting the pumpkins, so it’s a win, win all around!
TO CONCLUDE!
In this post, I demo a very quick, easy way to make foil spiders.
Whether it’s for an occasion like Halloween, a simple home, or a class activity, this will be a blast!
Also, the study of spiders is very interesting. Where you can have a conversation about what spiders look like, where they hang out, where to find them, and whether they really are creepy crawlies?
This is a great hands-on activity for kids to cut, twist, roll and pull using their fine motor skills and being creative too!
