WHAT ITEMS WOULD DAD INCLUDE ON A CAMPING TRIP?

Let’s address this. What would Dad consider taking on a camping trip? Shall we help him?

First of all, the family? Of course, a must, but he would have to work out whose going and what they would require for their special trip.

Most importantly….a TENT!

If it’s chilly, then blankets, coats, and if it’s wet, wellies. Organise and prepare camp food, infact everyone can do this, from sandwiches, to snacks, fruit and drinks.

This would be a fun activity to gather and add items to the list.

Possibly not to take the cat, but maybe the dog? So food for the dog, too!

And lastly, camping provisions and going by the list below, I will let you figure it out!

So would you take your cat on a family camping trip? As fun as it could be, you may loose him, or confuse him, best not!

A typical family camping tent.

Here is a typical family camping tent. The kind that would ping open into shape.

It’s also a good example of the type of family tent you can design or how you can colour in when creating your very own craft project.

So, let’s help Dad pack for a camping adventure:-

  1. A Tent  ⛺

  2. Torch  🔦

  3. Backpack  🎒

  4. T.V. 📺

  5. Water bottle 🚰

  6. Map 🗺

  7. Binoculars 🥸

  8. Tiger 🐯

  9. Marshmallows 🍡🍭

  10. Campfire 🔥

  11. A Sofa 🛋

  12. Bath 🛁

HAVE SOME FUN WITH YOUR KIDS!

I don’t think anything electrical would work; there is no electricity if it’s outside, so a television is definitely a no-no.

Large furniture, like a Sofa, what’s the point? Too big to transport, and no luxuries lol!

And would you need to have a bath? I don’t think so.

So here’s a reminder of the kind of items that a family of 8 would take on a camping trip for four days!

Although I don’t know how they would power the fans, unless they use a generator charged via the car battery?

How do you think they could get the fan working?

A QUICK AND EASY FATHER’S DAY ACTIVITY USING FREE PRINTABLES!

As time is short, and Father’s Day is soon upon us, time is of essence, so, instead of creating our craft in 3D by building a family camp, I felt it would be much more easier if on this occasion to go with 2D, and provide all camping items in black and white, worksheet, where you can cut and glue onto card, and cut out again neatly.

A GREAT FUN DAD’S GIFT TOO!

So why this would work as a Father’s Day gift too, well,  by offering this activity to dad, he can cut out with you, colour in and pop items into the tent, or rather against the 2D tent, or attach items on a backing board, showing all the equipment needed for the family trip!

Then you can bribe him into going on a real family camping trip!

Here are 2 free Printables. Print them out, cut all parts and stick onto an opened up cereal box, then colour them in, ready to cut out neatly.

You now have a range of camping equipment and one large tent. There are 2 tents, one for the front and one for the back. (See demo).

BACKING BOARD

You can colour in a backing board, which is an additional part, not shown in the list, with sky and grass, or leave it plain. This is the area to stick all your camping equipment on with Blu Tack.

PLAY FUN GAMES

Play a game with dad on what items you would need to take on a family camping trip!

Or describe the item, and what you would use it for, then guess what it is, and tuck it inside the tent.

I’ve included a couple of examples on how to colour in your camping equiptment and tent, although the colour choice is yours.

There you have it, you can expand on this by inventing or adding more of what you would like to take on your camping trip.

Jazz it up how you like, choose different colours that are personal to you.

   SOME TIPS!

  • You could, in fact, make a quick 3D tent from cereal packaging, cut and fold in half, like a triangular shape, trim and colour in, or leave the brand name as its design element. So can have an additional 3D tent as well.
     COLOUR FIRST
  • Colour in the equipment first before cutting out, as it may be a bit tricky colouring small parts, and may crease up once it’s been cut out.
    ALLOW A BORDER
  • When cutting out parts, leave some border around it so you can glue it onto the card, then you have the extra space around the item to cut out neatly.
     TRIANGULAR STAND
  • To prop the camping tent up, I cut out a piece of card Approx. 9 X 3 cm, and taped it up at the bottom, to make a triangle piece you can pop inside the 2 tents. This would hold the tent up; just hang the tent over it.
     AFTER THOUGHT
  • I decided to add a backing board so as to attach the camping gear to. But if you prefer to leave this out, you can and just do the activity with the tent provided on the worksheet and camping gear.
     A GIFT ACTIVITY
  • The worksheets, with or without a backing board, could be offered in a large envelope as an additional Father’s Day gift.
